Pastor Ed

PR was away on vacation today, but i heard a very convicting sermon from Pastor Ed who preached on Ephesians 4 this morning. his sermon spoke directly of church unity and how our differences can make us stronger as a body and grow us into living versions of the Gospel. yet, i felt God speaking to me on another front :it also spoke to me about unity in my relationships -- Cindy, family, brothers and sisters at SM and elsewhere, and even strangers.

What is living the Gospel about? Two things...

1. Living out the two greatest commandments: loving God and loving others.
2. Fulfilling the great commission.

how do we do this and what gold standards do we need to aspire to? we need to adopt and continually refine these five virtues in our lives:

1. humility
2. gentleness
3. patience
4. forgiveness
5. love

after being very moved by the sermon, Pastor Ed cut straight to my heart with his final message: how do we respond to each other?

"When we talk to each other, we see Christ in the other person...Christ is in all of our brothers and sisters. so if somehow, the person you are speaking to is hurting you, you still speak to them as if you were speaking to Christ."

what a challenge! yet, it speaks so much direction in how i need to conduct my life. what would my tongue and words look like if i saw myself speaking to Christ when i spoke to Cindy, my parents, family and fellow brothers and sisters?
